Who's Hot…
We have to have some rules around here...and we do. The main one is that games count for the week of the season they were intended to be played...not necessarily on the week of the calendar when they were played. So the games from November...they are finally being added into the mix now.

And with that all that said...no teams qualify for the Hot List at this time. Maybe next week.

...and NOT…
The Blackbirds get a tie (game played in November) but that does not remove them from the Not List this week because, as the saying goes, a tie is not a win.

Week 15 Intro :
Apparently there was too much celebrating over the holidays as many Team Reps have suffered some memory losses of the games that were played back in November that are just now appearing in the Gazette this week. Oh well, they all made an effort and put something in...even if it is to only say that they didn't remember the game.

This is another month of a weird schedule as we've got some teams playing twice next week. Also, yes, we are playing on an upcoming Ford Holiday next week. This is on purpose this season as there were already too many games getting shuffled around on the schedule and adding three more would have been a major mess. It would be great if we could play on T/W/Th to avoid Mondays, but that's not the schedule the rink offers.

Anyhow...there is a full slate of write-ups this week, and a bit from a Tourney featuring an All-Star roster of mostly FHL players.

Week 15 in Review :
FordTough 5   Galaxies 0 :
Dalimonte: Ford Tough faces Galaxies and puts on the best team effort defensively and offensively.

Andy Samyn gets his first Shutout of the season to lead the Tough in a makeup game in 2019 that is showing up this week. He should earn player of the week honors for this effort.

Happy New Year to Ford Tough and the FHL.

Special prayers going out to Dougy Wilson! God Bless brother, hopefully you are back on the ice soon!

Akins: Tough get revenge, and then some, in rematch.

This game was played the week of Thanksgiving, and I'm pretty sure none of the Galaxies really have any interest in reliving it.

Here's to turning over a new leaf in 2020!
Diesels 5   Cobras 2 :
Kundinger: Game was played on 11/25. All I can remember was Brandon having a big game as well as Collin on the scoring front.

Filar: Caldwell was phenomenal tonight, scoring 2 goals and stopped every shot he faced. He also had solid tilly with Kundinger at center ice. Game was in November, we lost, don't remember a thing about it!
Blackbirds 6   GranTorinos 6 :
Lacaria: Volume 2 Issue 15

Game was played back in week 12 so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details. McCaig subbed for us and scored a short handed goal to tie it up with under a minute on the clock. I remember that because i was sitting in the penalty box watching it happen. Tie isn't a win but our effort was great, we were down and the team didn't give up.

On to week 16........

Schaefer: Gave this game away. Had a 3 goal lead with 4 minutes left and lost it--even getting scored on while we had a powerplay. It didn't hurt that they got Matt to sub for their missing 5.0.
South Bend Tournament:
Friday – Gran Torino’s @ Riley Alumni (Win, 5 – 3) Saturday – Gran Torino’s @ Trinidad & Tobago (Win, 7 – 2) Saturday – Gran Torino’s @ Ice Boxers (Win, 5 – 4) Sunday – Gran Torino’s @ Raw Dogs (Win, 10 – 0)
Roster: Rhett Schaefer Matt McCaig Brett McKenzie Blake Smith Mitch Fink Austin Chapman Collin Peters Conner Cecott Paul Leffler (non-FHL, my friend from high school & college) Brandon Kaput Justin Kaput (Brandon’s brother) Eric Peters Joe Korepta Kenny Kasper (FHL Spring League) Brendan Caldwell
Marauders 5   Falcons 1 :
Bordeau: The new year is here and we try and avenge a 3-0 shutout from the Marauders in week #5. Marauders a working with a long term sub goalie this week.
Tight checking game until late in the second period when the Marauders score 3 goals in 2:24. OUCH!! Third period stays the same with 2 early goals to make it 5-0.
Falcons battle to get rid of the goose egg on the score board and score a PP goal at the 6:00 minute mark.
New goalie played well!!!!

Soper: Ryan K. on IR and Reggie Soapdaddy makes a call to the minors.
Contract quickly signed and newcomer Spencer Hoin joins the Rauds.
Spencer plays solid and thwarts almost all the Falcon attack.
No scoring in the 1st. Although Soap’s goal is disallowed. Net was off 2 inches ref says yet that had nothing to do with the goal cause Soaps backhand went tweeners on Suave Rico center of the net. Nonetheless 0-0 EOF.
Jay opens the scoring in 2nd on a nice feed from Normand and Slady.
Jay comes right back and takes one in for nice goal from Soap.
Minute later Conner takes a feed from Slady and goes bar down to make it 3-0 EOS.
Blair feeds Jay and he gets a one timer to the canon ... who makes no mistake.
Conner gets another hustle goal unassisted.
Midway through the 3rd. Soap gets a trip called and Robby Reiners gets a power play goal to end Spencer’s shutout debut in the FHL. Great shot Robbie.
POG to Spencer
TBOLTS up next on Monday.
Happy New Year to everyone!!
Thunderbolts 8   Bullitts 1 :
DePaoli: Well, either the Bullitts enjoyed the holidays a lot more that the T-bolts, or we just can't compete with that team. That's the 2nd time they've slaughtered us, and this time might have been worse than last time. Oh well, at least we knocked some of the holiday rust off the skates. HAPPY NEW YEAR FHLers!!!

Tymczak: Good offensive output from the Thunderbolts. Bullits had plenty of chances, but Alex stood tall! Mazur, Brett and Albert seemed to be all over the ice! Shin and new guy Zach played well defensively. Dave Born and Jim Wysocki were fantastic on break outs! Tim Raymond stayed out of the box and was instrumental on some of Austin's goals. Cameron broke out of our zone very well. Good luck to Mike Nebus who is out for an extended period of time. Wish him good health!
Rangers 8   SuperChiefs 7 :
Vincent: Back from the break and it showed. Sloppy game throughout as there were multiple lead changes. Dany Beaupre had a big game against us putting up 5 on the board. Short turnaround for the SuperChiefs as we have a Monday game against the Bullitts. Thanks to Middleton for subbing in and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes to the new Dads on our team, Dougie and Wypych!!!

Gaines:
O Dany Boy... Beaupre was on a mission to not let us lose this game. Every time a Chiefs scored Dany would answer... I had a Herb Brooks flashback, Dany score a goal ...again...score a goal..again....
Both team traded goals, it seemed like whomever had the puck last would win and sure enough with 5.5 seconds left, Hoyt back from a long stint on the DL banged in a rebound to win the game. Despite the rust, James played very good, with a goal and two helpers. Vrnak (thanks for stopping by --- inside joke) and Cunningham each had solid efforts with 2 assists for Vrnak and 3 assists for his 2nd ever FHL playmaker for Cunningham (Way to go Dale!!!).
Despite the score, Marc played very good in net stopping a breakaway in the 2nd that would have put us 2 down and numerous huge saves in 3rd with the Chiefs buzzing. Dany was certainly the POG, he had 5 goals, and willed us to victory. Subs played outstanding, thanks Ruben ( hope your leg is okay) Shin and Nick Menard. Subs combined for 2 goals and 4 assists not too shabby.
JC great job getting such great subs last minute and Congrats on the new baby Boy, I hope Baby and Mom are doing well...
Broncos 5   Focus 1 :
Kluegel: The Broncos ended 2019 on a sour note with a 3 game slide, putting us on the cold list after being on the hot list for the first 10 games of the season. After the long break, we were really hungry to kick off 2020 with a W.

Earlier in the year, we battled the Focus to a tough 5-5 tie and were preparing for another difficult game.

The Focus opened the scoring in this one...the Broncos turned the puck over on a failed clearing attempt near their own blue line. The Focus D fired the puck on the net and McCaig cleaned up the rebound. 1-0 Focus. The Broncos wasted little time responding...Blake Smith would score off assists from Kluegel and Alex Lince 0:23 later. 1-1 after 1.

For the sake of time, I guess we could call the rest of the game the "Alex Lince Show." Alex played an outstanding game, recording his first hat trick of the season. He had some other good opportunities as well but Gadulka played a very solid game in net for the Focus. Lince added 1 Assist as well for a 4 point night.

Cam Barron added the other Broncos goal off an assist from Chris Olszewski.

5-1 Broncos - Final - Good way to start 2020!

The Broncos play two games next week...Tuesday against the Galaxies and Wednesday against the Cobras. Hopefully we can carry the momentum from this game forward!

McCaig: Well, we're not happy with the way this one turned out but we just gotta put it behind us. The Broncos played a solid game, clogging lanes and blocking shots to stifle our production. We had our chances and spent a good amount of time in the Broncos end, but came away with nothing to show for it. Chris gave us a chance, we just couldn't bury any for him.

Shout out to Jay Adams for subbing last minute for Ruben.

FHL Three Stars of the Week :
It's a tough one this week, but the judges decided to go with the shutout earning the top honors this week over the massive goal output. Some times these decisions aren't easy and this week was one of them.
